Bigger is better

Spring fever has hit me HARD. So, when I'm restless or otherwise crazier than usual, I shop. Well, since Clint & I have finally gotten a hold on our budget, I was fighting the urge. Alas, I found an ad for a 52 inch big screen for sale while I was looking through the paper. So, two weeks later I called the number. Yes, it was still for sale. So, Clint and I went and looked at it and bought it. This is ALL for Grandma's benefit. Now the boys and their friends can watch TV and play video games on a big screen DOWNSTAIRS and leave the upstairs clean. That was the rationale anyway. We are going to pick it up tonight. I really wish I had gotten the game room completely cleaned out first. Clint told me I wouldn't get finished and I said "Yes, I WILL!" I hate it when he's right. I've got to get a path cleared so we can put it where it will go. Clint wanted to put it in our den, but then I'll NEVER get the game room cleaned out and the boys will want to be in there. Sorry, no, that is mine and Clint's 'getaway from people' room. By people, I mean teenagers. Mom and Daddy have been so wonderful with the constant flow of young people through the house. Actually, the kids and their friends do a pretty good job of keeping quiet while they are trying to sleep. It doesn't hurt that Mom and Dad have become night owls in their retirement.
We are having a big hoohah at Jan's the Sunday after Mother's Day. We are celebrating 3 birthdays, 3 graduations and 1 anniversary. Can you say "Big freakin cake?"

Nance Boy's News

Ethan's last season game is Saturday in Muskogee. They play Friday afternoon in BA. He'll have a few short weeks break until summer ball starts.
Ethan has 26 more days until he gets his license. (He's the one counting, not me.) I have really mixed feelings about my baby turning 16. It is nice now that a few of his friends drive to not be his personal driver but then again, I know he's growing up.
What is REALLY hard to handle is Wyatt starting college. We are going tomorrow to get him enrolled in TCC. He's going to take advantage of the Tulsa Achieves scholarship. It is such a great program.
The boys are doing great.

News from the Nance's

Ethan's baseball games Saturday were VERY interesting. The homeplate umpire didn't call a strike on the other team unless they actually SWUNG at the ball. It was so bad that other team's fans were making fun of the umpire and commenting on the calls. We lost 10-8 so we played again at 4:45. I didn't go to that game because Ethan pitched the first game (one of 4 pitchers that game) so he didn't play the second game. They won the second game but I don't remember what he said the score was.
Wyatt had a game Sunday. He pitched and did great. The other team didn't score while Wyatt was pitching but they lost 8-4. He went 2/3 and 1 walk?? I had to leave early for small group but I think that is what he said. Both the boys are taking End of Instruction tests at school right now. Yuk.
Wyatt's graduation is Monday, May 19th at ORU Maybee center. I think it starts at 7:00.

Greetings from Bob & Lea

Next year Bob says we are not coming back home from TX until June and maybe he could feel warm. We'll see. We were having very warm days in Harlingen. So glad Tammy started this blog. I have enjoyed the triplets blog and finally Whitney started one for Zoey. This will be fun to see what everybody is doing.

Johnson Family News

Since Zoey and the Trips have their own blog, I thought I'd make one for the entire family. There's always something exciting, funny or embarrassing going on with us so blogging makes it easy to share all the joys of being related to a Johnson. I'll go first:
Ethan is in a baseball tournament in Claremore this weekend. They are playing right now but I'm at school and couldn't go. Who schedules these things? If it doesn't get rained out (this is Oklahoma in April) then he plays Friday afternoon and I can make that one. Good thing since I've heard he's going to pitch.
Wyatt is playing baseball with Andrew (Whit's hubby) on the weekends. He's the best player out there (I'm a little biased) Last Sunday was the first game he played with them. There were 10 people who showed up to watch (it was REALLY COLD) and of the 10, 7 were there to see Wyatt. Me, Jimmy, Penny, Kristi, Ashlee & Ashlee's mom & sister were there to harass, um, cheer him on. He's still got the touch.
Clint is still looking for a full time position preferably in the law field. School is winding down for the year and we are almost done with the state tests (Hallelujah!). It will be HOT summertime soon and I'm ready for it. Wyatt's graduation is May 19th at ORU. I'm not sure about the time. Ethan turns 16 in a couple of weeks. (I'm not old enough to have my youngest be 16.) I've heard about how great empty nests are (not from Mom because I'm still there) but I'm not ready for it. Wyatt wants to move out this summer and Ethan is only 3 years behind that. I know it is a long way off, but the past few years have gone by so fast that it will be here before I know it. The boys and their friends hang out at our house a lot and I really enjoy them being there. I could do without the mess they leave but it is worth it. The up side to an empty nest is that I can probably quit working since I won't be feeding so many teenage boys.
